Assignment of IRB Number

New Protocols

All new protocols are required to be submitted through PittPRO. IRB numbers are assigned by the system with the prefix “STUDY.” The number assigned reflects the year and month of submission with consecutive numbers thereafter. Protocols that were originally approved in OSIRIS or on paper and transitioned into PittPRO will be identified by information provided in the application on Study Scope #10.

Expanded Access for Single Patient will begin with the prefix “EA.”

Continuing Review

Studies submitted for continuing review will maintain the original IRB number with the prefix “CR” and will be numbered sequentially thereafter.

Modifications

Modifications will retain the original IRB number with a prefix “MOD” and will be numbered sequentially thereafter.

Combined Modifications and Continuing Review

Combination modification and continuing review submissions will retain the original IRB number with a prefix of “MODCR” and will be numbered sequentially thereafter.
